Actress. Writer. Singer/songwriter. Director. A new Renaissance woman with a fascinating career.
Discovered at the age of 14 by Jean-Luc Godard, Julie Delpy has always been more than an exquisite face. Yes, she looks - as Ethan Hawke’s character put it in Before Sunrise - like ‘a Botticelli angel’. But not every ethereal French screen goddess opts to play a Nazi, as Delpy did in Europa Europa; or a girl in the throes of an incestuous relationship with her father, as in Voyager; or a rotoscoped animation of herself, as in Waking Life. Even in Kryzstof Kieslowski’s legendary Three Colours trilogy, Delpy was the White witch, a deliciously nasty foil for Juliette Binoche and Irene Jacob’s limpid heroines. She’s always had an edge. Little wonder, then, that her directorial debut, Two Days in Paris, is such a smart, mischievous caper - the work of a sharp intellect and a wicked sense of humour. A genuine star talks us through a life in the spotlight.

Actresses Go Behind The Camera For Tribeca
|
The classic Hollywood cliché of an actor saying, “All I really want to do is direct,” holds true for some of the filmmakers at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
Julia Stiles and Julie Delpy spoke about the process of filmmaking at the Tribeca Talks panel “Bringing Home The Bacon” on Friday, and Eva Mendes sat down with WCBS-TV reporter Katie McGee to talk about her experience as an executive producer.
“I did the job of editor; I went to the mailbox and sent it to festivals. (I did) a little bit of everything,” Delpy said about her film “Two Days In Paris.”

DAUGHTER … Mother … Grandmother … Governor … Film ambassador … BIKER CHICK.”
This is how the invitation to the Texas Film Hall of Fame reads. Its legend is “Ann Rides Again” and inside is the famous picture of then Gov. Ann Richards dressed in white leather straddling a “hog.”
This annual event to be held on March 9 is a tribute to the late Ann, who helped create the booming Lone Star State movie industry. Honorees are Elizabeth Avellan, Betty Buckley, Richard Linklater, Ann-Margret and Bill Paxton. Presenters will be Ellen Burstyn and Julie Delpy with special guests Lily Tomlin and Anna Deavere Smith. The Dixie Chicks are also being honored and will appear. Time Warner Cable and Public Strategies sponsor down in Austin.
